Strategy

In order to evaluate the functionality of the ETV system and to verify its applicability several technologies for site characteri­sation/monitoring and remediation will undergo the ETV procedure. Some of these technologies and additional third-party tech­nologies will be selected during the course of the project.

On-site and in situ monitoring and sampling devices for site characterisation:

  1. Sensor array for volatile organic compounds in the unsaturated zone

  2. Fibre optic photometer for dissolved PAH & BTEX in groundwater

  3. Photometer for dissolved phenols, DOC, and electron acceptors

  4. Active and passive multilevel ground­water sampling systems

  5. Novel and efficient in-situ and ex-situ remediation technologies.
    Their se­lection is part of the project. This could for example be:  
    In situ chemical oxidation, Co-solvent and surfactant flushing, Permeable reactive barriers
